General Service Technician / Mechanic (Automotive)

Location: Onsite in Lockport, Illinois, United States

Salary: Up to $20/hour

What you will do

• Perform oil changes, tire rotations, battery replacements, suspension alignments, and other maintenance and repair services.
• Complete state-mandated vehicle emissions and safety inspections.
• Troubleshoot vehicle concerns and communicate damage or malfunctions to the service department.
• Conduct accurate courtesy vehicle inspections and complete preventive maintenance reports.
• Follow hazardous-waste, OSHA, safety, cleanliness, and organization requirements.
• Assist with housekeeping and general shop maintenance.

Requirements

• Current driver’s license.
• Entry-level applicants are welcome; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
• Ability to lift or move more than 50 pounds occasionally and work in tight spaces or beneath elevated vehicles.
• Ability to stand or walk for most of the workday, use hand tools, drive manual-transmission vehicles, and maintain a brisk pace.
• Ability to use computers, smartphones, and tablets.

Nice to have

• ASE Certification or a plan to obtain it.
