Facility Preservation Engineer (Civil)

Location: Grande Prairie Pulp Mill, Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada

Salary: CAD 99,800–144,100 per year

What you will do

• Maintain and protect mill assets to support manufacturing reliability, personnel safety, and environmental protection.
• Design, coordinate, and complete facility engineering work requests and provide technical support for engineering projects.
• Oversee and collaborate with maintenance and operations teams on structures, buildings, foundations, piping, pressure equipment, utilities, roads, fire protection, and other mill infrastructure.
• Maintain engineering documents, mechanical standards, inspections, repair records, and facility preservation plans.
• Support regulatory compliance, ABSA requirements, Global Manufacturing Systems standards, and capital project development.
• Coach junior engineers and technical graduates and assist EHS with wastewater treatment and solid waste facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or RET/PEng qualification in Civil Engineering.
• 8–10 years of experience in industrial, manufacturing, or maintenance environments.
• Experience designing, fabricating, installing, analyzing, and repairing concrete, steel, aluminum, wooden structures, foundations, roads, railroads, levees, retaining walls, and protective structures.
• Experience with underground gravity and pressure piping for process sewers, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, water, effluent, natural gas, and other process systems.
• Knowledge of building systems, finite element analysis, provincial and national building codes, and CSA S16; experience with AutoCAD and SAP.
• APEGA membership or the ability to obtain membership within a reasonable timeline is required. Strong communication, collaboration, technical competence, and attention to detail are also required.
