Structural Engineering Trainee, Technologies

Location: Mississauga, Ontario, Canada; work in the office and on project sites, including remote sites

Salary: CAD 81,000–84,000 per year

What you will do

• Calculate environmental loads for furnace and equipment structures.
• Design steel components for custom smelting furnaces.
• Analyze binding forces in the patented furnace binding system.
• Assist with 3D model preparation and engineering drawing production.
• Collaborate with process, mechanical, and electrical engineers.
• Provide client, site, and vendor fabrication support.

Requirements

• Be graduating in 2027 or have recently graduated with up to two years of heavy-industry experience.
• Hold or be pursuing a Bachelor of Applied Science or Bachelor of Engineering in civil or structural engineering from an accredited university.
• Be eligible for registration as an Engineer-in-Training with a provincial engineering body after graduation.
• Demonstrate strong engineering fundamentals, communication, organization, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Be willing and able to travel to project sites, including remote sites.

Nice to have

• Coursework in solid mechanics, heat transfer, structural analysis, concrete or steel design, structural dynamics, and numerical methods.
