Structural Engineering Trainee

Location: Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada; work from the Niagara Falls office with travel to project sites and other hirify.global offices as required.

Salary: $78,000–$81,000 per year, plus potential performance-based incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Perform calculations for structural analysis and design of industrial buildings, equipment support structures, and foundations.
• Prepare calculation reports and engineering documents for internal and external stakeholders.
• Collaborate with senior structural engineers and other hirify.global groups on complex global projects.
• Develop knowledge of structural analysis software, building codes, material design codes, and discipline workflows.
• Participate in office and project-site safety training and support site activities.
• Travel and work in other offices or project locations, including remote sites, as project needs arise.

Requirements

• Working toward graduation in 2027 or recently graduated with a Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Structural Engineering.
• Knowledge of engineering and business fundamentals, with strong analytical, creative-thinking, problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.
• Preferred coursework includes Structural Analysis, Structural Mechanics, Reinforced Concrete Design, Structural Steel Design, and Foundation Design.
• Ability to learn quickly, work independently, collaborate effectively, and take initiative.
• Academic or professional experience with structural software such as SAP2000, STAADPro, FEA tools, CAD software, or MathCAD is an asset.

• Advanced coursework in Hydropower and Dam Structures, Structural Dynamics, or Finite Element Analysis.
• Previous co-op, internship, or summer work experience in structural engineering.
