TL;DR
Technical Project Manager (Python/Django): Leading software engineering projects from planning through development, testing, and deployment with an accent on Agile delivery, technical design, and quality assurance. Focus on coordinating engineers, removing delivery roadblocks, improving testing processes, and resolving complex technical challenges across a high-traffic travel booking platform.

Location: 100% remote; work from home

Salary: £65,000–£75,000 per annum, depending on experience

What you will do

  • Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, priorities, and delivery plans.
  • Track project progress, report status, mitigate risks, and remove roadblocks.
  • Lead, mentor, and support software engineers while setting goals and overseeing team wellbeing.
  • Shape the software development lifecycle and provide feedback on technical designs, architecture, and code changes.
  • Enhance testing processes, participate in code reviews, and address defects and improvement areas.
  • Maintain project documentation and capture key learnings to improve future delivery.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience as a Technical Project Manager or in a similar role managing software engineering projects.
  • Experience reporting to a founder or senior leadership team.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, including Agile and Scrum, and project management tools.
  • Hands-on technical expertise in software development, programming languages, and frameworks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a small, high-growth scale-up rather than a large corporation.
  • Background in e-commerce, online marketplaces, or online travel agencies.
  • Exposure to Kubernetes, Python, Django, Celery, Vue.js, PostgreSQL, Redis, Solr, Memcached, Nginx, Varnish, Cloudflare, or GitLab.
  • Project Management or Agile certifications.
