Solar PV Project Engineer, Senior or Staff (Solar PV)

Location: San Francisco, California, United States; office-based role with regular travel to project sites across the U.S., up to 25%.

Salary: $160,000–$252,000 USD annually

What you will do

• Own concept and preliminary solar PV system design for utility-scale solar-plus-storage projects.
• Produce single line diagrams, array layouts, string and inverter sizing, and performance models using PVcase.
• Define the solar technical scope and Basis of Design for handoff to detailed design teams and EPC partners.
• Coordinate PV scope with Project Engineering, Commercial, Development, Procurement, EPCs, vendors, and engineering consultants.
• Evaluate topography, soils, shading, resource data, interconnection, permitting, and code requirements during feasibility.
• Support construction and commissioning site activities, resolve field issues, and develop internal solar design standards and tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably Civil or Electrical, or equivalent experience.
• Deep experience developing, designing, and constructing utility-scale solar PV systems; Staff-level scope requires a broader record across multiple projects.
• Proficiency with PVcase and other industry-standard solar design software.
• Working knowledge of solar-plus-storage architectures and relevant NEC, IEEE, UL 1703, UL 3703, and utility interconnection requirements.
• Experience coordinating EPCs, racking and module vendors, and engineering consultants through design and construction.
• Willingness to travel to U.S. project sites; site work includes climbing, standing, stooping, noise, dust, and temperature extremes.

Nice to have

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
