Avionics Harness Design Engineer (Aerospace)

Location: Los Angeles, United States; work arrangement: on-site. U.S. Person status is required to access export-controlled data.

Salary: $125,000–$165,000 per year in base compensation, excluding benefits.

What you will do

• Design electrical harnesses through wiring diagrams, schematics, 3D routing models, and detailed manufacturing drawings.
• Select space-qualified connectors, backshells, wires, shielding materials, and other harness components.
• Perform voltage-drop, current-derating, signal-integrity, thermal, EMI/EMC, and environmental analyses.
• Develop qualification, acceptance, and environmental test plans and collaborate on thermal-vacuum, vibration, and radiation testing.
• Produce BOMs, ICDs, compliance records, and other design documentation.
• Support harness installation, integration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution during spacecraft assembly and testing.

Requirements

• U.S. Person status required for access to export-controlled data.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
• 3+ years of electrical harness design experience in aerospace, space systems, or a related industry.
• Strong knowledge of grounding, shielding, power distribution, signal integrity, and aerospace harness manufacturing processes.
• Proficiency with electrical CAD tools such as Altium or Rapid Harness and mechanical CAD tools such as NX and Teamcenter PLM.
• Knowledge of NASA, ESA, IPC/WHMA-A-620, MIL-STD-810, SMC-S-020, and NASA-STD-8739.4 standards.
