Embedded Linux Engineer II (Aerospace) (C++/Linux): Developing reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules across requirements capture, design, testing, integration, and flight operations with an accent on embedded processors, real-time systems, and safety-critical aerospace software. Focus on designing mission-critical software, validating system performance, integrating telemetry and command systems, and supporting spacecraft operations in orbit.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States

Salary: $144,020–$184,026 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

What you will do

  • Develop reliable flight software governing spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout complete missions.
  • Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, and Linux software for embedded processors in C++.
  • Own software design, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Capture requirements and define initial designs and trade studies for open-ended projects.
  • Collaborate with the team to solve software and system problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
  • Experience with real-time embedded systems and software testing.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and qualify as a U.S. person under ITAR requirements.

Nice to have

  • End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
  • Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F' or cFS frameworks, Python, or Rust.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics and interfaces including SPI, I2C, CAN, and EtherCAT.
