TL;DR
Flight Software Engineer II (Aerospace): Building reliable C++ flight software that controls spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions with an accent on embedded systems, safety-critical software, and verification. Focus on capturing requirements, designing and integrating bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux software, and validating flight systems for aerospace operations.

Location: On-site in El Segundo, California, United States. Employees must be authorized to work in the U.S. and qualify as U.S. persons for access to export-controlled technology.

Salary: $144,020–$184,026 per year, plus potential stock options and/or long-term cash awards.

hirify.global develops commercial space infrastructure, including in-orbit pharmaceutical processing payloads, reentry capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.

What you will do

  • Develop reliable flight software controlling spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules throughout complete missions.
  • Write structured bare-metal, RTOS, or Linux-based embedded software in C++.
  • Own software design, development, testing, integration, verification, and validation.
  • Capture requirements and perform initial design trades for open-ended projects.
  • Collaborate with the team to communicate, troubleshoot, and solve engineering problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software.
  • At least 3 years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software.
  • Strong C++ development experience and understanding of core language concepts.
  • Experience with embedded systems, safety-critical software, or aerospace applications.
  • Authorization to work in the United States and U.S. person status are required for access to export-controlled technology.

Nice to have

  • End-to-end experience building and launching a spacecraft.
  • Experience with CCSDS telemetry and telecommand systems, F' or cFS frameworks, Python, or Rust.
  • Knowledge of analog and digital electronics.
  • Familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT.
