Embedded Software Engineer (Government)

Location: Onsite in Carlsbad, California; Marlborough, Massachusetts; Linthicum Heights, Maryland; Tampa, Florida; or Tempe, Arizona

Salary: $140,500–$221,500 annually. For specific locations within San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $174,000–$261,000 annually.

What you will do

• Develop embedded software for Layer 2 and Layer 3 in-line network encryptors, embedded cryptographic devices, and emerging cryptographic solutions.
• Design and implement embedded software in C/C++ for Linux-based environments.
• Develop or modify Linux kernel and bare-metal device drivers for embedded and microprocessor-based systems.
• Design and implement RESTCONF interfaces, standalone embedded applications, and emulation environments.
• Work with TCP/IP and networking protocols such as IPsec, MACsec, and TLS.
• Develop, test, and certify the Next Generation Encryptor high-speed encryptor in collaboration with systems, test, hardware, and multidisciplinary engineering teams.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of embedded software design and implementation experience with C/C++.
• At least 2 years of Linux experience, ideally in an embedded environment.
• Experience with Rust, object-oriented software development, Agile Scrum, CI/CD, and basic TCP/IP configuration.
• US citizenship and an active SECRET or higher security clearance are required.
• Ability to travel up to 10% and communicate effectively in writing and verbally.

Nice to have

• Experience with Linux kernel drivers, bare-metal embedded drivers, NIOS, ARM, or RISC-V processors.
• Experience with RESTCONF, emulation environments, IPsec, MACsec, TLS, Python, or standalone embedded applications.
