Engineering Leader (Manufacturing)

Location: Primarily remote or in an office within a manufacturing facility, with frequent trips to the Reno, Nevada headquarters and work on the production floor.

What you will do

• Scale the engineering organization from approximately 16 engineers by recruiting and retaining engineers in Reno and remote locations.
• Build the leadership and operating systems needed for larger-scale engineering, including code reviews, planning, on-call processes, performance reviews, and leveling.
• Partner with the CEO and product, operations, and manufacturing leaders to deliver high-quality software for business-critical needs.
• Own feature delivery predictability through clear commitments, visible progress, and proactive escalation.
• Partner with senior engineers on architecture and technical direction for systems supporting multiple teams.
• Visit the Reno headquarters and work in manufacturing environments to support production operations.

Requirements

• 15+ years of software engineering experience and 10+ years of engineering leadership experience.
• Experience leading engineering organizations through significant growth and accountability for business outcomes.
• Track record of hiring, developing, and mentoring engineering managers.
• Domain expertise in manufacturing, logistics, e-commerce, or another physical-world business.
• Strong technical judgment, process design skills, and communication across technical and non-technical audiences.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

Nice to have

• Experience with Ruby on Rails, Vue, Vuex, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Experience integrating software with hardware, machines, manufacturing, or operational workflows.
• Familiarity with CAD/CAM workflows, file processing, quoting systems, or CAD tools such as Fusion 360 and SolidWorks.
• Experience mentoring engineers or prior experience as a SendCutSend customer.
