Engineering Manager (Laravel/PHP)

Location: Remote within the United States, or onsite in Denver, Colorado or West Des Moines, Iowa

Salary: $175,000–$200,000 per year in Denver; $175,000–$190,000 per year in Des Moines and for remote US positions, plus a 15% annual bonus at plan targets

What you will do

• Lead, coach, hire, onboard, and professionally develop a team of software engineers.
• Support delivery of platform features for candidates and employers through planning, prioritization, and stakeholder alignment.
• Review code and guide architecture, design, testing, documentation, and release-quality decisions.
• Assess and improve development processes, coding standards, delivery practices, and team autonomy.
• Own production reliability by triaging incidents, leading root-cause analysis, and driving preventative improvements.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, QA, Sales, executives, and support teams to deliver and maintain complex features.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building and maintaining web applications with Laravel, modern PHP, TypeScript, VueJS, and MySQL.
• Working knowledge of AWS and cloud-hosted infrastructure, including deployment pipelines, monitoring, and cost management.
• Experience guiding architecture and design decisions, automated testing, CI/CD, version control, and secure development practices.
• Experience leading a software engineering team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, performance management, and career development.
• Ability to plan capacity, sequence competing priorities, communicate clearly, and translate technical details for business audiences.
• Remote work is limited to the United States; onsite work is available in Denver or West Des Moines.

Nice to have

• Experience with Jira, Linux, and Docker-based containerized workloads.
• Ability to use AI coding assistants for implementation, code review, testing, and debugging with sound judgment.
