Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: Remote employment in the United States only; available in CA, GA, NY, NC, TN, TX, and WA. San Francisco and New York City have separate compensation ranges. Occasional finalist interviews may take place onsite in San Francisco.

Salary: $133,000–$192,000 per year in most remote locations; $166,000–$240,000 per year in San Francisco and New York City. Full-time regular positions may also receive equity, 401(k), health benefits, and other benefits.

Provides bookkeeping, financial management, and tax services for small businesses by combining custom software with dedicated finance experts and integrations with billing, banking, expense, and payroll systems.

What you will do

• Build, test, and deploy software continuously for core accounting systems.
• Own projects end to end, from technical design through rollout.
• Develop systems for transaction categorization, revenue recognition, and accurate financial reporting.
• Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, accounting experts, and internal stakeholders.
• Investigate production issues, improve reliability, and support services.
• Mentor and sponsor teammates and contribute to code reviews and engineering standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Production experience with Python, Vue, or another JavaScript framework.
• Strong coding fundamentals and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Good product and systems judgment in ambiguous or evolving problem spaces.
• Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, and async written communication skills.
• Experience mentoring and teaching other engineers.

Nice to have

• Production experience with Vue.
• Experience with accounting systems, double-entry bookkeeping, or revenue recognition.
• Experience with fintech, agentic or AI-assisted systems, and third-party APIs such as payment processors.
