Lead Software Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Remote within the United States, with onsite planning and team-building gatherings several times a year in Watertown, Massachusetts

Salary: $150,000–$180,000 annually, plus health insurance, 401(k), and bonus

What you will do

• Design and build technology supporting health plan and care experiences in partnership with clinical, operations, and product teams.
• Build mobile applications, web applications, and APIs for members, providers, employers, and care teams.
• Develop agentic workflows using machine learning models for care management, navigation, automation, and proactive interventions.
• Integrate third-party vendors and health-tech services to expand platform functionality and data sources.
• Own projects from ideation through release and contribute to product decisions, technical architecture, and engineering best practices.
• Help recruit, mentor, and support a collaborative engineering team.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience writing production code across the stack.
• Experience designing, building, and shipping features end-to-end.
• Strong ownership, problem-solving, resilience, collaboration, and communication skills.
• Commitment to thoughtful code review, documentation, mentorship, and teamwork.
• Ability to work remotely within the United States and attend onsite gatherings in Watertown several times a year.

Nice to have

• Experience with React, React Native, TypeScript, Python, Django, Postgres, Docker, or AWS.
• Experience with machine learning models, agentic workflows, or automation in healthcare.
• Experience working with healthcare data and ETL.
