Senior Software Developer-SME (Java)

Location: On-site in Chantilly, Virginia, United States. Core hours are 9 AM to 3 PM, five days per week, within a 40-hour work week. After a one-year onboarding period, participation in a one-week on-call rotation is required.

Salary: $107,900–$195,050 per year

Large technical development program supporting web-based applications with a multidisciplinary team of developers, DevOps engineers, security engineers, systems engineers, and data engineers.

What you will do

• Develop and support web-based applications as part of a 200+ FTE technical development program.
• Build backend services and Java-based web solutions, including JAX-WS services.
• Work with Java Persistence API and complex database schemas.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams using Agile workflows and processes.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and address system issues outside normal working hours.

Requirements

• Active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph required.
• Bachelor’s degree and 8+ years of experience, or additional experience in lieu of a degree.
• 6–10 years of demonstrable software development experience with a backend emphasis.
• Strong Java programming skills and Java Persistence API experience with complex database schemas.
• Experience with Java web services, Linux command-line tools, Spring frameworks and Spring Boot.
• Experience working on teams using Agile workflows and processes.

Nice to have

• Cloud development experience, including AWS integration with Java.
• Experience with Oracle, Oracle RDS, Vue.js, Bootstrap or Vuetify.
• Knowledge of Python, JavaScript, Bash, XML, JSON, YAML, SQL or PL/SQL.
• Experience with GitHub, Git, ELK, Jenkins, Puppet or NAGIOS.
