Senior Software Engineer (Fintech)

Location: San Francisco, California, US; hybrid with office attendance three days per week on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays

Salary: $166,000–$200,000 per year, plus equity and benefits for full-time regular positions

What you will do

• Own software projects end to end, from problem definition and technical design through implementation, rollout, and measurement.
• Build, test, and continuously deploy reliable software for bookkeeping automation.
• Design workflows across services, internal tools, and human operational processes.
• Build observability and evaluation capabilities to measure automation quality, investigate failures, and improve performance.
• Contribute to the security, auditability, and reliability of systems handling sensitive financial data.
• Partner with product, design, bookkeeping, and operations specialists; investigate production issues and mentor teammates.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience writing clean, maintainable, well-tested code.
• Production experience with Python.
• Experience owning and shipping customer-facing or business-critical systems end to end.
• Experience designing, operating, and debugging reliable production systems, with strong product and systems judgment.
• Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills, plus experience mentoring and teaching others.

Nice to have

• Experience with fintech, accounting, or financial operations tooling.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and external systems.
• Experience with system security, permissions, or sensitive data.
