Product Engineer

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid work with 1–2 days per week in the office

Salary: $100,000–$160,000 base salary per year, plus equity and performance-based bonus

What you will do

• Own features end-to-end, from ambiguous user problems and business goals through production delivery.
• Define requirements, break down work, and manage scope independently.
• Make product, design, and UX decisions with lightweight feedback when useful.
• Build and test backend and frontend functionality using Django, Python, React, and TypeScript.
• Deploy and operate production systems using AWS, PostgreSQL, Celery, and Redis.
• Communicate progress and outcomes through specifications, release notes, and documentation.

Requirements

• Production experience with strong Python and React skills.
• Solid AWS and SQL experience in production environments.
• Experience with asynchronous task management and production operations.
• Ability to define requirements from problem statements without waiting for a detailed specification.
• Strong written communication skills for specifications, release notes, and documentation.
• Must be based in Austin, Texas, work in the office 1–2 days per week, and be eligible to work in the United States without employment-based visa sponsorship.

Nice to have

• Experience with Celery or Redis.
• Knowledge of educational data standards such as Ed-Fi or OneRoster.
• Genuine interest in ed-tech, career exploration, or workforce development.
