Sr. Software Engineer, Backend (Digital Products - Service)

Location: Fremont, California, United States; hybrid schedule with 1–3 days per week in the office. Regular in-person meetings, company events, and domestic travel are required. The role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.

Salary: $154,000–$187,000 annual California base salary range; eligible for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Design, architect, and develop scalable, reliable, and high-performance backend systems.
• Build interoperable digital products supporting customer interactions inside and outside the vehicle.
• Implement and support single sign-on, identity, access, and profile services for internal and customer-facing applications.
• Translate requirements from product managers, designers, and stakeholders into technical specifications and deliverables.
• Establish software development practices including code reviews, testing, and documentation.
• Own team services, ensure 24/7 on-call coverage, and mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related technical field.
• 5+ years of software development experience, with a focus on backend technologies and the ability to lead multiple projects.
• Proficiency in Go, Node, Python, Java, or Ruby.
• Experience with relational or non-relational databases such as PostgreSQL, Redis, MySQL, or MongoDB.
• Experience with identity management systems such as Azure AD, AWS Cognito, LDAP, or Okta.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, troubleshooting, and technical communication.

Nice to have

• Experience in manufacturing or automotive environments.
• Hands-on AWS experience using Go or Python.
