Sr. Backend Engineer, AI Projects (AI)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days per week in the New York City office near Union Square

Salary: $160,000–$200,000 base salary, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Own platform initiatives end-to-end, from scoping and system design through delivery and maintenance.
• Design integration infrastructure, including services, queues, data pipelines, and asynchronous workflows.
• Lead projects with junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design feedback, and technical direction.
• Identify recurring integration problems and build systems that eliminate entire classes of issues.
• Set technical direction in ambiguous problem spaces and collaborate with Integrations Engineering and adjacent teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience.
• Computer Science degree or comparable experience.
• AI-forward approach and demonstrated willingness to drive AI projects.
• Strong systems design skills, including trade-off analysis and failure-mode anticipation.
• Experience independently leading ambiguous, multi-quarter projects from concept to business outcomes.
• Ability to work from the NYC office 3 days per week.

Nice to have

• Experience building integrations with third-party APIs, authentication flows, and rate limits.
• Browser automation experience with Selenium, CDP, or Playwright.
• Browser fingerprinting or detection experience.
• Experience with concurrency, failure modes, backend platforms, queues, data pipelines, and asynchronous processing.
• Python expertise, fintech experience, or a track record of reducing on-call noise.
