Staff Software Engineer (Web3)

Location: Menlo Park, California, or New York, New York, with in-person attendance expected at least 3 days per week

Base pay: $180,000–$270,000 USD annually, depending on compensation zone and other job-related factors. Additional bonus opportunities, equity, and benefits are included.

What you will do

• Own the technical vision and execution for Robinhood Chain, the Tokenization Engine, and Robinhood Wallet.
• Design, build, and operate the core services powering these platforms.
• Write production code and lead complex implementations across the platform.
• Drive reliability, correctness, observability, security, and engineering quality.
• Improve developer practices and lead adoption of AI tooling.
• Mentor engineers, lead design and architecture discussions, and align with adjacent organizations.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Expertise in backend development with Go, Python, or Java and strong knowledge of cloud-native architectures.
• 3+ years leading large-scale technical initiatives across multiple teams or complex systems.
• Strong understanding of system design, data modeling, and software engineering fundamentals.
• Experience simplifying complex problems, making technical tradeoffs, and aligning diverse stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ownership, delivery of high-impact product outcomes, and mentoring of engineers.
