Engineering Manager (Billing)

Location: Remote, global; work from anywhere in the world

What you will do

• Lead the Billing team and build a healthy, high-trust culture in a globally distributed, remote-first environment.
• Manage 1:1s, performance management, career development, onboarding, leave administration, and hiring for the team.
• Own the Billing roadmap, project management in Linear, workflow intake, prioritization, stakeholder updates, and delivery accountability.
• Balance new pricing and product capabilities with correctness, resilience, supportability, and technical-debt investments.
• Participate in architecture and design discussions and set a high bar for reliable, observable, and extensible revenue systems.
• Train as an Incident Commander, lead incident coordination and resolution, assess customer impact, and run blameless post-incident reviews.

Requirements

• 5+ years of engineering experience and 3+ years managing remote engineering teams.
• Experience managing a billing engineering team at a cloud, SaaS, or developer-tools company.
• Experience managing globally distributed teams working asynchronously across different time zones.
• Strong understanding of subscription lifecycle, monetization mechanics, usage-based billing, entitlements, pricing enforcement, and billing operations.
• Production experience with Stripe, Orb, or comparable billing and payment providers, including APIs, webhooks, invoice lifecycles, payment failures, event ingestion, and outage handling.
• Clear written communication, strong performance-management experience, technical credibility, coaching ability, and comfort operating in ambiguity.

Nice to have

• Experience with developer tools or databases.
• Experience with late-arriving usage data, deterministic reruns, backfills, reconciliation, provider rate limits, and service-level agreements.
• Experience working with Finance, Data, Product, Support, Sales or RevOps, and Partnerships on billing operations and pricing launches.
