Engineering Manager (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote; New York, NY or Century City, CA

Salary: $270,000–$320,000 gross annual base salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead the Revenue Finance and Tax engineering teams and set technical direction across financial and tax systems.
• Deliver systems for revenue recognition, billing, settlement, ledgers, reconciliation, reporting, tax calculation, tax collection, and compliance workflows.
• Drive measurable business impact through clear goals, success metrics, data-informed prioritization, and reliable execution.
• Own system design, code quality, reliability, correctness, maintainability, and auditability for business-critical platforms.
• Hire, coach, retain, and develop high-performing engineers while improving team health and operational performance.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Product, and Data stakeholders to translate regulatory and accounting requirements into engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience, including technical ownership of production systems and business-critical software.
• 4+ years of people leadership experience with a track record of hiring and developing high-performing teams.
• Direct experience with financial, payments, billing, ledger, or tax systems, or comparable domains requiring correctness, compliance, and auditability.
• Strong background in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, or data platforms.
• Experience with Postgres, SQL Server, Java, Python, or React.
• Ability to define success metrics, manage ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and collaborate with Finance, Tax, and Accounting stakeholders.
