Engineering Manager (FinTech)

Location: Hybrid in New York, NY, with 3 days in the office and 2 days remote. The posting also lists Los Angeles, California, and New York, New York.

Salary: $270,000–$320,000 gross annual base salary, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

• Lead Revenue Finance and Tax engineering teams responsible for financial and tax systems.
• Set technical direction for revenue recognition, billing, settlement, ledgers, reconciliation, reporting, tax calculation, collection, remittance, and compliance workflows.
• Drive measurable business and customer impact through clear goals, data-informed priorities, and disciplined execution.
• Own system design, code quality, reliability, correctness, maintainability, and auditability.
• Hire, coach, retain, and develop high-performing engineers while fostering an inclusive and psychologically safe team.
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Tax, Product, and Data stakeholders to translate regulatory and accounting requirements into engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of engineering experience with technical ownership of production systems and business-critical software.
• 4+ years of people leadership experience, including hiring and developing high-performing teams.
• Direct experience with financial, payments, billing, ledger, or tax systems, or comparable domains requiring correctness, compliance, and auditability.
• Strong background in backend engineering, distributed systems, APIs, or data platforms; relevant technologies include Postgres, SQL Server, Java, Python, and React.
• Ability to drive execution, define success metrics, solve complex problems with data, and work effectively under tight timelines.
• Experience partnering with Finance, Tax, or Accounting stakeholders and converting regulatory or accounting requirements into engineering plans.
