Cost Estimator (Utilities)

Location: United States; travel required less than 10%

hirify.global provides project cost estimating and management support for utility and capital construction projects.

What you will do

• Collaborate with project sponsors and stakeholder groups to define project scope.
• Generate parametric estimates for substation and utility transmission projects using AACE estimate class requirements.
• Prepare assembly-level cost estimates from detailed scopes and 30–50% engineering designs.
• Update parametric estimating tools with estimate-versus-actual cost data and improve data usability for project scheduling and cost management.
• Coordinate estimate ownership, eliminate scope overlap, and support enterprise estimating system development with software developers.
• Train estimators on revised tools, QAQC processes, and standardized estimating procedures.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional cost estimating experience for design and construction estimate packages.
• Experience estimating energy utility construction projects and/or above- and below-grade civil projects.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Proficiency in AACE cost engineering practices and the TCM framework.
• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with enterprise estimating systems such as Sage.
• Knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma process improvement methodologies.
