Machinist 2nd Shift (Automotive)

Location: Costa Mesa, California, United States. Onsite 2nd shift position with 5% travel for training as required.

Salary: $74,200–$120,500 annual base salary.

What you will do

• Set up, operate, and maintain 5-axis CNC machines and associated robotic automation.
• Load castings and raw materials, verify tooling, fixtures, tool life, and machine configurations against production requirements.
• Optimize machining processes with Manufacturing Engineering and troubleshoot machine, tooling, geometry, and automation issues.
• Coordinate with Quality Control to validate part quality, resolve non-conformances, and meet quality and OEE targets.
• Perform daily CNC machine maintenance, including cleaning and coolant concentration checks, and document activities and production losses.
• Retrieve or build cutting tools and ensure 100% accuracy of tool builds.

Requirements

• High school diploma and an associate degree or relevant trade school study in CNC machine manufacturing.
• 5+ years of experience in a close-tolerance CNC manufacturing environment, including machine operation, programming, and cutting-tool selection and maintenance.
• Knowledge of 5-axis CNC controls and G & M Code programming; Heidenhain and Mazatrol experience is preferred.
• Ability to read detailed blueprints with advanced GD&T and use micrometers, calipers, gauge pins, and go/no-go gauges.
• Ability to follow and provide feedback on SOPs, work independently, and work 2nd shift hours.
• Ability to remain on foot for extended periods and lift or carry up to 50 lbs.; regular bending, stooping, climbing, pushing, and pulling are required.

Nice to have

• Hands-on experience with Heidenhain iTNC 530/640, Mazatrol, and 5-axis milling machines.
• Experience with root-cause analysis, 5S shop-floor practices, SOP revision, and forklift operation.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
