Manufacturing Process Engineer - Machining

Location: Onsite in Tonawanda, New York; full-time plant presence required. Candidates must be flexible to work any shift, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary: $80,700–$109,400 base compensation annually, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Support daily production needs and provide technical guidance during significant downtime events.
• Design and improve machining operations to meet safety, quality, throughput, and efficiency requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement, waste elimination, bottleneck reduction, and productivity improvements.
• Collaborate with production, maintenance teams, machine and tool builders, vendors, and internal and external customers.
• Lead equipment installation, debugging, launches, and continuous improvement activities.
• Create process flow diagrams, control plans, PFMEAs, preventive maintenance plans, and equipment spare-part requests.

Requirements

• BS degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a similar technical field.
• Experience with engineering problem solving and manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of mechanical drawings, blueprints, and basic machining methods.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing concepts and interest in applying agile methodologies.
• Ability and willingness to work non-standard hours and any shift to support equipment installation and maintenance.

Nice to have

• At least two years of machining process development experience with plant-floor exposure.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, Teamcenter, Microsoft Office, statistical problem solving, PFMEAs, process control plans, and error-proofing devices.
• Experience with equipment and tooling specification, procurement, qualification, and project management.
• Experience in a union or bargaining-unit environment.
• Knowledge of BOE, BOP, BOSE, and BOO documentation.
