Senior Manager, Environmental Health & Safety (Manufacturing)

Location: Petersburg, Virginia, United States; onsite at the manufacturing facility

What you will do

• Lead environmental, health, safety, security, and life-safety programs for the Petersburg manufacturing site.
• Manage ISO 14001 environmental and ISO 18001 occupational health and safety management systems.
• Develop site EHS strategies, objectives, targets, and performance reports, including Circular for Zero initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with government permits, EHS regulations, RCRA waste-management requirements, budgets, schedules, and major milestones.
• Lead a multidisciplinary EHS team and coordinate collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
• Manage emergency response activities, equipment inspections, fire-alarm operations, site drills, and continuous process improvement using cLEAN tools.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a related technical field with at least eight years of manufacturing experience; equivalent alternatives include an associate degree with ten years or a high school diploma/GED with twelve years of experience.
• At least five years of direct leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably pharmaceutical, chemical, or another complex industrial setting.
• Proven knowledge of state, federal, and local environmental and safety regulations.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information to non-technical personnel.
• Experience with technical documents, P&ID and CAD drawings, validation protocols, contractual documents, work plans, and detailed project schedules.
• Ability to work onsite, move equipment or supplies weighing up to 33 pounds, stand for up to 12 hours, and work in loud-noise environments with hearing protection.

• Professional certifications such as PE, CHMM, CSP, or ASP.
• Computer literacy with relevant EHS and operational systems.
• Experience with mentoring, capability development, planning, organizing, and cross-functional problem solving.
