Senior Manager, Packaging Engineering (Biotech)

What you will do

• Lead the development and implementation of labeling and secondary packaging equipment at the Harwell site.
• Provide technical leadership across capital projects, including design, commissioning, qualification, and validation.
• Develop engineering turnover packages, equipment specifications, process parameters, and FMEA documentation for GMP equipment.
• Troubleshoot complex equipment failures and implement corrective, preventative, and continuous improvement actions.
• Build the site maintenance strategy, including maintenance plans, spare-parts strategies, equipment criticality assessments, and job plans.
• Develop the maintenance and engineering function while coordinating internal teams, global engineering groups, vendors, and consultants.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Packaging, Mechanical, Automation, or another engineering discipline.
• At least 8 years of relevant Packaging Engineering experience and at least 5 years in a GMP environment.
• Technical and regulatory experience with labeling and secondary packaging in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
• Experience with capital or expansion programs, packaging line design, thermoforming, heat sealing, cartoning, flexible packaging, vision inspection, serialization, and barcode printing or verification.
• Strong technical writing, communication, structured problem-solving, root-cause analysis, and corrective and preventative action skills.
• Ability to manage multiple complex assignments with minimal direction and influence cross-functional decisions.

Nice to have

• Experience with automatic inspection and clinical packaging operations.
• Basic statistical analysis skills.
• Experience with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
