Senior Director, Software Engineering (AI/ML)

Location: USA; primary location in Bentonville, Arkansas. Salary information also lists Sunnyvale, California.

Annual salary: $160,000–$320,000 in Bentonville or $208,000–$416,000 in Sunnyvale, plus performance bonuses and possible stock.

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end execution of engineering programs focused on AI/ML-enhanced solutions.
• Oversee architecture and development of agentic AI systems across backend, frontend, and mobile technologies.
• Drive reusable architectural patterns, scalable system design, and reductions in technical debt.
• Align product and program roadmaps, milestones, and software strategy with business objectives.
• Ensure technical quality, operational excellence, and timely delivery of software solutions.
• Mentor engineering talent and senior leaders while fostering ownership and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Extensive experience leading software engineering teams focused on AI/ML-enhanced solutions and cloud-native technologies.
• Expertise in software architecture, system design, and scalable platform development across multiple languages and frameworks.
• Strong project and program management skills, including milestone tracking and risk mitigation.
• Experience developing technology roadmaps and managing stakeholders across functions.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and 7 years of software engineering experience, or 9 years of relevant experience.
• At least 4 years of supervisory experience.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, information systems, software engineering, or a related area.
• Experience implementing WCAG 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and digital accessibility practices.
