Director, AI Engineering

Location: Hybrid office position in New York City, Louisville, KY, or Dallas, TX; employees primarily work from the company office with occasional work from home.

Salary: $189,400–$260,500 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Lead and grow an AI engineering team developing foundational services, frameworks, and tools for enterprise agentic AI applications.
• Define the technical strategy, architecture, goals, and long-term platform investments for company-wide agentic AI initiatives.
• Design reusable platform components such as LLM orchestration frameworks, experiment tracking, evaluation pipelines, model proxies and gateways, and observability capabilities.
• Partner with enterprise architecture, security, data engineering, DevOps, application, product, and technology leaders to integrate the generative AI platform with broader enterprise systems.
• Establish engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, observability, and incident response.
• Mentor AI engineers and foster a culture of experimentation, humility, technical growth, and excellence.

Requirements

• Advanced degree (Ph.D. or Master’s) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 10+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, including at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Proficiency with machine learning frameworks such as TensorFlow or PyTorch, Python, and cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Proven experience leading and growing high-performing engineering teams.
