Building Automation Systems Specialist

What you will do

• Serve as the technical authority for building automation and energy management systems across laboratories, vivariums, GMP facilities, administrative buildings, and central utilities.
• Lead BAS projects, including planning, scope development, contractor coordination, upgrades, repairs, and maintenance outages.
• Design, configure, program, and optimize control sequences, graphics, trend logs, alarms, schedules, and analytics.
• Analyze HVAC performance, environmental parameters, fault diagnostics, and system trends to improve reliability and energy efficiency.
• Maintain BAS databases, controller programming, documentation, technical reports, standard operating procedures, and lifecycle replacement plans.
• Provide technical consultation, mentor maintenance personnel, respond to emergency service calls, and support investigations of environmental excursions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; foreign degrees require U.S. equivalency evaluation.
• At least two years of experience with building automation platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, Trane, or Schneider.
• Knowledge of commercial HVAC systems, electrical controls, critical environmental controls, central utilities, building pressurization, and mechanical equipment.
• Experience with HVAC commissioning, fault detection and diagnostics, facility operations, control-system troubleshooting, sensors, and protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or LonWorks.
• Ability to use CMMS and Microsoft Office, interpret schematics and wiring diagrams, and apply strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work in confined or noisy areas, respond to after-hours support needs, pass random drug testing, and obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Nice to have

• Experience with Schneider Electric EcoStruxure Building Operation.
• Certification in HVAC controls, building automation, or energy management.
