Platform Engineer (C++)

Location: Onsite in Littleton, Colorado or Austin, Texas, or fully remote with travel to Austin for approximately one week every other month, up to six weeks annually. Additional travel may be required for program needs.

What you will do

• Design, develop, integrate, and test critical features in the onboard C++ software stack.
• Build and maintain reusable Sol3 SDK libraries, APIs, tools, and platform abstractions.
• Develop systems software for IPC, sensor and device interfaces, networking, and constrained embedded environments.
• Integrate cameras, sensors, heterogeneous compute platforms, and networking interfaces into reliable end-to-end systems.
• Integrate perception algorithms into SDK components and develop applications supporting perception, navigation, and mission operations.
• Support software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, spacecraft integration, mission simulation, flight operations, technical reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering, computer engineering, aerospace engineering, robotics, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience developing complex production systems.
• Strong modern C++ skills, including multithreading, memory management, debugging, and performance optimization.
• Experience with embedded Linux, hardware and sensor integration, IPC, GMSL, I2C, SPI, TCP/IP, reusable libraries, APIs, SDK components, and automated testing.
• Ability to resolve complex system-level issues and collaborate across software, algorithm, hardware, and systems engineering teams.
• Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain required U.S. Department of State authorizations under ITAR regulations.

Nice to have

• Master’s or PhD in computer science, robotics, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with spacecraft, aerospace, robotics, autonomous vehicles, defense, or other mission-critical systems.
• Experience integrating cameras or perception sensors with embedded Linux, GPUs, FPGAs, or heterogeneous compute platforms.
• Knowledge of computer vision, visual navigation, state estimation, localization, mapping, 3D geometry, coordinate transformations, or camera models.
• Python proficiency and experience with flight software interfaces, telemetry, commanding, vehicle integration, or mission operations.
