What you will do

• Teach Spanish language skills through reading, writing, speaking, and listening instruction.
• Prepare students for Advanced Placement and college-level coursework using authentic print and audio sources.
• Build students’ bilingual communication skills, cultural awareness, and confidence in Spanish conversation.
• Analyze student work samples and assessments with school leaders and instructional coaches.
• Differentiate instruction and collaborate with grade-level and Spanish department teams.
• Build supportive relationships with students and families and participate in school-wide meetings, mentorship, and coaching.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university before employment begins.
• Academic expertise in Spanish or a related field.
• Commitment to students’ social-emotional and academic development.
• Interest in impacting K-12 students in urban schools and communities; 1–2 years of experience is preferred.
• Meet New York State certification eligibility requirements and obtain New York teaching certification within a reasonable period after starting.
• If the degree is not in education, enrollment in a teacher preparation program and maintenance of a GPA of at least 2.5 are required.
