Early Literacy Instructional Lead

Location: Houston, TX, USA. Hybrid work with reporting to the central office or schools three days a week; travel to KIPP Texas school sites and regions may be required.

Salary: USD 70,000–77,500 per year

What you will do

• Lead implementation of statewide early literacy priorities and multi-year PreK–3 initiatives.
• Manage Reading Academies cohorts, facilitate module learning, and lead coaching cycles.
• Coach instructional leaders, assistant principals, teachers, and regional academic teams in literacy instruction.
• Analyze student-, teacher-, school-, and region-level data to identify strengths, growth opportunities, and instructional implications.
• Develop and evaluate literacy pilots, collect implementation data, and make statewide program recommendations.
• Plan and lead virtual and in-person professional development focused on curriculum and module internalization, lesson planning, and responding to data.

Requirements

• Texas Reading Academies Cohort Leader screener required before starting employment.
• Expertise in early primary literacy from Pre-K through 3rd Grade and strong knowledge of the full Pre-K–12 literacy continuum.
• Knowledge of foundational literacy, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Experience with literacy and reading growth assessments, curriculum internalization, lesson modeling, teacher observation, and feedback.
• Strong data analysis, planning, communication, relationship-building, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
• Reliable transportation for travel between campuses and ability to work in school and classroom environments.

Nice to have

• Experience coaching school leaders and modeling strong coaching and school leadership.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office.
