Innovation Counsel - Patent Counseling & Prosecution (Legal Technology)

What you will do

• Support legal technology adoption initiatives across firm practice groups and provide attorney-level input.
• Design playbooks, resources, presentations, status reports, and executive briefings for technology-enabled best practices.
• Collaborate with innovation, operations, technology, practice management, legal project management, pricing, and change management teams.
• Analyze practice group workflows, identify improvement opportunities, and develop strategies to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
• Drive legal technology pilots, deployments, proofs of concept, experiments, and continuous improvements.
• Develop scalable practice group resources and define objectives, success metrics, timelines, and communication strategies.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or non-US equivalent.
• Active bar membership in good standing or registered in-house counsel status in the jurisdictions from which work is regularly performed and, where applicable, the assigned office jurisdiction.
• 4+ years of directly applicable legal practice or legal technology adoption experience.
• Experience driving cross-functional projects involving legal technology, knowledge management, technology teams, and practice group leadership.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, iManage, and other firm applications after orientation.
• Strong analytical, communication, presentation, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills, with an understanding of large law firm financial and work allocation processes.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed systems and organizations.
• Knowledge of iManage or NetDocs, Elite 3E, Intapp, Litera, Thomson Reuters, or Lexis products.
• Experience with generative AI solutions in legal practice.
• Experience with alternative legal service providers, usage data, metrics, and data-driven storytelling.
