Senior Software Engineer – Workday Finance

Location: Remote, Texas, United States

Salary: $109,500–$145,500 base pay

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable software services supporting Workday Finance.
• Build APIs, backend services, data models, and distributed systems for financial transactions, accounting, billing, revenue, and reporting workflows.
• Ensure financial data is accurate, secure, traceable, auditable, and reliably reconciled.
• Design resilient systems for high transaction volumes, including retries, failure handling, duplicate prevention, and reconciliation.
• Lead architecture and design reviews, troubleshoot production issues, and improve performance, observability, and reliability.
• Contribute to automated testing, CI/CD, DevOps, monitoring, logging, code reviews, and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience with ownership of complex systems.
• Strong programming experience in Java, Python, C++, Go, or a similar modern language.
• Experience with distributed systems, scalable backend services, RESTful APIs, microservices, asynchronous or event-driven systems, and SQL databases.
• Experience with cloud technologies, automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring, logging, and production support.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with ERP, Workday, finance, accounting, billing, revenue, or financial management software.
• Knowledge of General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, revenue recognition, accounting periods, and financial reporting.
• Experience with high-volume transaction processing, distributed messaging, Kubernetes, Docker, or cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS applications and working with financial reconciliation, auditability, and data integrity.
• Technical leadership and mentoring experience.
