Senior Software Engineer (Java/Python/GCP)

Location: Chicago, Illinois; hybrid work with at least two days per week in person at an assigned hirify.global office

Salary: $78,750–$131,250 annually

What you will do

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable enterprise applications and services using Java, Python, Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Lead the design and implementation of complex features across distributed systems and multiple application components.
• Build and support cloud-native solutions on Google Cloud Platform, including Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, Cloud SQL, BigQuery, Bigtable, Pub/Sub, Cloud Storage, and IAM.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, database design, reliability, monitoring, alerting, and logging.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines, containerized deployments, and infrastructure processes using Git, Harness, Puppet, Docker, and Kubernetes.
• Troubleshoot production incidents, conduct root cause analyses, participate in Agile ceremonies, and provide technical guidance through code and design reviews.

Requirements

• 6+ years of experience designing, developing, testing, deploying, and supporting enterprise software applications.
• Strong programming proficiency in Java, Python, and Bash or shell scripting, with experience in Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform, Docker, Kubernetes, Apache Kafka, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based database design and optimization.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment or infrastructure-management tools, unit and integration testing, production debugging, Prometheus, and Grafana.
• Experience with cloud-native applications, distributed systems, technical initiative leadership, software architecture, system design patterns, and Agile development.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent education and professional experience.

Nice to have

• Experience designing highly available, resilient, and scalable distributed systems.
• Experience with event-driven architectures, streaming solutions, cloud security, and mission-critical production applications.
• Familiarity with Harness, Puppet, Google Kubernetes Engine, and advanced observability practices.
