Staff Android Engineer (Fintech)

Location: New York, United States; hybrid remote

Salary: $250,000–$500,000 annually, plus equity and benefits

What you will do

• Set the technical direction for Android and own architectural decisions across the platform.
• Build and own Android features for payments flows, real-time market data, and core trading UI.
• Develop polished, performant interfaces with Jetpack Compose.
• Own CI/CD pipelines and Gradle configuration while improving build and release reliability.
• Build and maintain WebSockets, gRPC, and streaming data integrations for live market features.
• Provide technical leadership through architectural decisions, code reviews, engineering standards, and proactive identification of scalability gaps.

Requirements

• Significant experience owning and shaping Android platforms at scale.
• Strong current Kotlin expertise and confidence making architectural tradeoffs.
• Deep production experience with Jetpack Compose, performance, and interface quality.
• End-to-end experience with CI/CD pipelines and Gradle build configuration.
• Strong understanding of modern Android architecture and a track record of technical leadership.
• Active, regular use of AI tools as part of the development workflow.

Nice to have

• Experience integrating payments on Android.
• Experience with WebSockets, gRPC, or other real-time mobile data patterns.
• Familiarity with cross-platform shared-code architectures.
• iOS or Swift experience.
• Experience in a larger, mature engineering organization.
