Associate Applied Scientist (AI)

Salary: $150,000 target annual base compensation, plus equity incentives and benefits.

What you will do

• Ship production algorithmic systems end-to-end, from problem framing and objective definition through launch and iteration.
• Translate complex healthcare and business constraints into clear objectives, tradeoffs, and decision frameworks.
• Define evaluation metrics, validate solutions before release, and improve them against real-world outcomes.
• Select and apply machine learning, optimization, heuristics, expert systems, or simpler rules based on the problem.
• Build a provider tiering algorithm that balances geographic access and total cost of care.
• Develop a member engagement model using claims data and in-app behavior to select the appropriate communication channel and timing.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or in-progress Master’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related STEM field, with expected graduation in Fall 2026 or Spring 2027.
• Strong applied problem-solving skills and the ability to define meaningful metrics and deliver measurable improvements.
• Strong judgment in selecting statistical models, heuristics, optimization methods, and algorithmic approaches.
• Ability to quickly turn ideas into working prototypes and validate them rigorously.
• Strong communication skills, including the ability to present technical work to senior stakeholders.
• Employment visa sponsorship is not available.
