Network Engineer (AI/HPC)

Location: Remote – US; Durham, North Carolina, US

Salary: $94,000–$117,000 per year, plus bonus eligibility

What you will do

• Monitor, maintain, upgrade, and troubleshoot enterprise-scale network equipment.
• Manage InfiniBand and Ethernet networks in Linux-based HPC and AI environments.
• Diagnose server and network issues, run hardware diagnostics, and replace failing components.
• Collaborate with software and network engineering teams on cybersecurity and network efficiency.
• Document configurations, build instructions, technical guidance, and network diagrams.
• Develop automation tools, supervise on-site component updates, and participate in weekly on-call rotation.

Requirements

• 6+ years of hands-on experience with enterprise-scale networks.
• In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and network equipment.
• Experience administering InfiniBand networks using Mellanox/NVIDIA technologies and Ethernet networks using Cumulus/SONiC.
• Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 network protocols.
• Experience documenting network processes and diagrams.
• Ability to provide IT support, work collaboratively, and resolve network errors, including occasional after-hours incidents.

Nice to have

• Experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining large-scale data center networks.
• Knowledge of low-latency and high-bandwidth networking performance optimization.
• Experience with VXLAN, EVPN, BGP, and OSPF.
• Knowledge of NCCL, UCX, MPI, UFM, OpenSM, NetQ, or similar network management software.
