Resident Engineer (Service Provider Routing and Switching)

Location: Remote/Teleworker within the United States; salary range applies to North Carolina, Texas, and Virginia

Salary: USD 105,500–243,000 annual base salary, with possible variable incentives

What you will do

• Troubleshoot HPE Juniper equipment and network issues, open and track JTAC cases, and support pre-production and production environments.
• Run network information-gathering and technology workshops with customers to understand existing architectures and new design requirements.
• Assess network health and develop fault-diagnosis procedures, operating procedures, configuration standards, and implementation plans.
• Support routing and switching platforms, major network upgrades, maintenance windows, and network changes.
• Train customer design, implementation, and support personnel on configuring and operating HPE Juniper products.
• Coordinate with HPE Juniper subject-matter experts and peer resident engineers to reduce risk during new software deployments and major network changes.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of design, implementation, and operational experience with large-scale IP networks; typically 6–10 years of experience.
• Hands-on JUNOS CLI experience with large-scale MX, PTX, and ACX routing devices.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, MPLS, OSPF, IS-IS, BGP, MPLS-TE, RSVP, LDP, IPv6, routing policy, VPNs, L3VPN, VPLS, MVPN, Ethernet switching, 802.1Q, QoS, and class of service.
• Automation experience with Ansible, YAML, HPE Juniper PyEZ, and Python scripting.
• Ability to communicate effectively during crises with engineering, operations, CIO, and CISO audiences, and to present complex technical solutions to customers.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering, computer science, or an equivalent qualification; mastery of English and the local language.

• Expert-level certifications such as JNCIS, JNCIP, JNCIE, CCNP, or CCIE.
