Software Engineer I, Frontend (Upfunnel)

Location: Remote in Canada; candidates must reside in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan. The role is remote-first, with an in-person onboarding experience and occasional office work possible.

Base pay: CAD 101,000–151,000 per year. Total compensation may also include equity rewards, monthly health, wellness and technology stipends, and benefits.

What you will do

• Build and improve high-traffic frontend experiences across Affirm.js, promotional messaging, experimentation, and developer-facing tooling.
• Develop reliable, accessible, performant, and scalable pre-checkout experiences for merchant sites.
• Collaborate proactively with teammates and stakeholders, communicating risks, trade-offs, progress, and technical decisions.
• Balance delivery speed and quality while protecting systems from downtime.
• Use browser debugging, monitoring, metrics, and testing tools to maintain reliable cross-browser experiences and contribute to operational issue resolution.
• Participate in team growth and development activities.

Requirements

• Previous work or internship experience shipping web applications with declarative UI frameworks such as React or Vue.
• Previous work or internship experience with JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Ability to turn a simple problem or business scenario into a solution involving multiple software components and implement it with clear, well-tested, extensible code.
• Comfort navigating a large codebase, debugging other engineers’ code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Evidence of ownership of professional growth and proactive feedback-seeking from teammates, managers, and stakeholders.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
