Associate Chemist (Environmental Testing)

Location: Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA; onsite, Monday–Friday, 2nd shift from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM

Salary: $18–$20.90 per hour; additional information states $18–$19 per hour plus a 10% shift differential.

What you will do

• Prepare and analyze environmental samples using approved scientific methods, SOPs, and standard laboratory techniques.
• Perform chemical analysis focused on semi-volatile organic compounds and GC/MS instrumentation.
• Evaluate, quantify, record, and report analytical data and unusual test occurrences.
• Complete assigned quality-control samples, including MDL, LOD/LOQ, and PT work.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance, sample purging, glassware handling, supply inventory, and laboratory housekeeping.
• Maintain training records and document quality issues or nonconformances as required.

Requirements

• BS or BA in Chemistry or a related field, an associate degree, or two years of related laboratory experience in lieu of a degree.
• Professional working proficiency in English is required, including reading, writing, and speaking.
• Authorization to work in the United States without restriction or sponsorship is required.
• Ability to work with organic solvents, laboratory glassware, specialized equipment, and prolonged periods of standing.
• Ability to interpret written materials, perform calculations, analyze data, identify issues, and propose practical solutions.
• Strong organization, communication, collaboration, accuracy, and time-management skills.

Nice to have

• Previous experience with wet chemistry.
• Previous experience in a laboratory or production setting.
• Experience with organic preparation, metals, PFAS, HRMS, radio chemistry, wet chemistry, or high- and low-resolution analysis.
