Manager Digital Manufacturing Systems (Industry 4.0)

Location: Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA. The role requires approximately 20–50% travel to manufacturing sites and includes regular physical presence in manufacturing environments.

What you will do

• Own and advance the digital factory roadmap across manufacturing operations, aligning MES, connected worker technologies, data platforms, analytics, Lean manufacturing, and enterprise transformation.
• Lead digital shop-floor solutions for work order execution, electronic work instructions, production flow, routing, sequencing, changeovers, and real-time production, labor, and equipment visibility.
• Drive digital quality management, product and process traceability, defect tracking, corrective actions, and closed-loop continuous improvement.
• Build manufacturing performance visibility for OEE, throughput, cycle time, downtime, scrap, and labor efficiency through automated data collection and reporting.
• Integrate manufacturing systems with ERP, PLM, QMS, SCADA, PLC, and enterprise data platforms while establishing secure, scalable, and reliable architectures.
• Lead the digital manufacturing team, vendors, budgets, timelines, governance, change management, training, and adoption across plant operations.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• At least 5 years of experience supporting manufacturing systems in a discrete manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production execution, and Lean principles.
• Experience leading cross-functional digital transformation or manufacturing systems initiatives and converting operational challenges into scalable technology solutions.
• Ability to travel to manufacturing sites approximately 20–50% of the time.
• Experience with digital manufacturing platforms such as Tulip and Ignition; knowledge of ISA-95, manufacturing systems architecture, Industry 4.0, IIoT, automation, and smart manufacturing is preferred.

• Experience managing large-scale programs, portfolios, or digital transformation initiatives.
• Experience supporting high-mix, configurable, or engineered-to-order manufacturing.
• Prior experience managing technical or manufacturing-focused teams.
