Junior Environmental Scientist

Location: Kemah, Texas, United States; frequent extended travel and emergency response deployments required

Salary: $38,500–$44,600 per year, depending on experience, skills, and geographic location

What you will do

• Participate in emergency response teams conducting environmental sampling and data collection.
• Investigate pollutants and hazards affecting the environment or public health.
• Maintain, calibrate, and mobilize equipment for emergency response operations.
• Collect, monitor, analyze, and report samples from air, food, soil, water, and other potential contamination sources.
• Compile, review, and summarize scientific and technical data and literature.
• Support on-call rotations, extended travel, overtime, weekends, and urgent deployments.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in biology, environmental engineering, environmental health and safety, industrial hygiene, chemistry, chemical engineering, toxicology, or a related science; 1–3 years of related experience may substitute for the degree.
• Advanced Windows-based computer skills and the ability to learn new software and complete administrative duties.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, verbal, and written communication skills in English.
• Ability to work independently, follow written and verbal directions, and collaborate within a matrix reporting structure.
• Ability to complete HAZWOPER certification, obtain DISA and TWIC clearances, complete OSHA training, and comply with respirator and other safety requirements.
• Current driver’s license, ability to obtain a passport, and ability to work overtime, weekends, and frequent extended travel.
