Staff Scientist - Environmental Fate

Location: Easton, MD, USA; candidates should live within commuting distance. Full-time, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., with overtime and occasional weekend shifts as needed.

Salary: USD 60,000-70,000 per year.

What you will do

• Design and supervise simple and complex experiments in compliance with DEA, EPA, FDA, FIFRA, OECD, and other applicable requirements.
• Develop procedures and methods to solve technical problems and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Conduct studies on the persistence and environmental behavior of chemicals.
• Evaluate complex data, review colleagues’ work, and prepare technical reports and standard operating procedures.
• Serve as a technical expert and possible primary client contact while managing multiple projects.
• Monitor GLP compliance, direct staff activities, prepare scientific papers, and train staff on laboratory techniques.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, or a directly related field, plus at least five years of environmental fate laboratory experience; alternatively, a relevant master’s degree and three years of directly relevant experience.
• Strong scientific, computer, organizational, communication, and technical writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively, manage multiple tasks, maintain accurate records, and follow procedures.
• Authorization to work indefinitely in the United States without restriction or sponsorship.
