Transmission Planning Manager (Power Transmission)

Location: New Albany, Ohio; Virginia may also be considered. Onsite role.

Salary: $160,434–$208,565 per year

What you will do

• Lead the Transmission Planning team and manage its work plan for the Appalachian Power region.
• Oversee transmission planning analyses, study development, and review of study results.
• Evaluate reliability and capacity needs and guide practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Balance capital investments, maintenance expenditures, operating procedures, and system reinforcements.
• Support regulatory activities through testimony, base cases, customer presentations, and state commission interactions.
• Represent the organization with NERC, RTOs, regional reliability councils, industry groups, and internal stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited or equivalent institution.
• At least 10 years of related engineering experience.
• Experience with transmission planning, study development, reliability criteria, and solution development.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentations to senior management, customers, and external audiences.
• Demonstrated leadership ability and experience coordinating across engineering, operations, construction, distribution, and project management functions.
• Work location is New Albany, Ohio; Virginia may also be considered.

Nice to have

• Three years of management or supervisory experience.
• Professional Engineer designation.
• Experience with regulatory support, testimony, state commissions, and customer-facing presentations.
