Senior Field Service Engineer (Cleanroom/Metrology)

Location: San Diego, CA, USA; candidates must live within a commutable distance and travel throughout assigned territories up to five days per week, including overnight travel as required

Salary: $90,000–$130,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications

What you will do

• Calibrate, qualify, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair laboratory instrumentation and critical process equipment in controlled environments.
• Perform and authenticate cleanroom and controlled-environment certification, including airflow, HEPA/ULPA filter integrity, pressure cascade, recovery, containment leak, and particle-counting tests.
• Support biosafety cabinet and fume hood certification to NSF/ANSI 49 requirements.
• Develop and maintain calibration procedures, qualification protocols, validation documentation, technical reports, SOPs, work instructions, and customer compliance reports.
• Review certification reports, investigate out-of-specification results, and support customer deviations and corrective actions.
• Train and direct field service personnel, represent the business during customer scoping and audits, and build the operating record for CETA registration and NEBB CPT firm certification.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, analytical chemistry, electronic engineering, metrology, physics, life sciences, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 7–10 years of progressive experience in calibration, metrology, equipment maintenance, qualification, validation, laboratory instrumentation, or technical service.
• Expertise in ISO/IEC 17025, metrological traceability, measurement uncertainty, decision rules, calibration intervals, accreditation compliance, and NIST or other NMI traceability.
• Knowledge of ISO 14644 Parts 1–3, NSF/ANSI 49, Good Documentation Practices, equipment qualification, and validation; experience supporting IQ, OQ, and PQ activities.
• Expected to hold or actively pursue CETA certification and obtain NEBB CPT certification personally.
• Valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, ability to travel extensively, and ability to lift, transport, install, maintain, and service equipment in laboratory, manufacturing, healthcare, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, medical device, and controlled-environment settings.
