Software Engineer (Autonomy & Robotics)

Location: Hybrid in San Carlos, California, with 3+ days per week onsite and remote work permitted on the remaining days. All work must be performed in the United States.

Salary: $135,000–$205,000 per year, plus equity.

What you will do

• Design, build, and deploy robotic and embedded software for advanced pilot assistance systems.
• Develop autonomy features and subsystems from implementation through deployment, emphasizing reliability and performance.
• Write, test, and maintain production-quality Python and C++ across autonomy, systems, and embedded components.
• Integrate software with hardware, sensors, and perception or data-ingestion pipelines.
• Optimize software for edge-compute environments by managing latency and resource usage.
• Support testing, validation, deployment, design reviews, and code reviews for safety-critical systems.

Requirements

• Must be based in the United States; all work must be performed in the United States.
• U.S. Person status is required under U.S. export control regulations.
• Visa sponsorship and visa transfers are not available.
• At least 2 years of experience designing or building robotic software or embedded systems, or equivalent project, internship, or coursework experience.
• Production-quality programming experience in C++ and/or Python.
• Familiarity with real-time or interactive systems, autonomy concepts, sensor or perception pipelines, and embedded or edge-compute platforms.

Nice to have

• Experience with safety-critical or mission-critical systems, aviation, or robotics.
• Exposure to ROS or DDS.
• Interest in human-in-the-loop systems, simulation environments, or real-time control systems.
• Background or strong interest in autonomy, robotics, or advanced mobility.
