BGAD: Construction Engineering Manager – Explosives Manufacturing (Contingency)

Location: Hybrid position requiring on-site work in Richmond, Kentucky; Fort Knox, Kentucky is listed as the position location. Relocation assistance is available.

What you will do

• Lead engineering progress and strategic execution for a new Blue Grass Army Depot explosives manufacturing facility.
• Oversee subcontractors developing, implementing, integrating, and sustaining construction and process equipment.
• Manage engineering schedules, technical risks, resources, deliverables, and multidisciplinary initiatives.
• Coordinate with program management, customers, subcontractors, and technical stakeholders.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship, coaching, performance feedback, and leadership to engineering personnel.
• Support technical reviews, engineering documentation, proposals, strategic planning, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

• Must be a US citizen and able to obtain a Secret Security Clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Systems Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Previous Engineering Manager experience and at least 10 years in senior engineering leadership and team or subcontractor management.
• At least 10 years of experience across mechanical, electrical, and process engineering on US federal contracts involving munitions and chemical plant construction.
• At least 15 years of experience developing, implementing, and sustaining large-scale enterprise information systems.
• Experience with DoD program and project management, Integrated Master Schedules, risk management, engineering standards, and contractual compliance.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Experience with optical and software engineering disciplines.
• Professional Engineering License.
• Extensive experience coordinating large-scale subcontractor work and supporting complex Department of Defense programs.
• Willingness to travel to manufacturing sites, suppliers, and customers.
